Teacher Consultants

Who We Are

Teacher Consultants provide technical assistance, guidance, and coaching to Special Education Teachers and Principals in the local area school districts. Each Teacher Consultant has a minimum of three years of teaching experience, two of which are within the special education setting. All Teacher Consultants hold a Master’s Degree from an accredited university. Teacher Consultants hold endorsements in one or more of the following specialized areas: Cognitive Impairment, Emotional Impairment, Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Visual Impairment, or Hearing Impairment.

What We Do

Teacher Consultants provide support in three main areas: individual Special Education Teacher support, indirect behavior support, and development and implementation of specially designed instruction for students already in special education. Teacher Consultants support local school district special education staff to stay in compliance with state and federal special education rules and regulations. Teacher Consultants are members of school-based problem solving teams, evaluation teams and Individualized Education Planning (IEP) teams. Within the areas of Visual Impairment and/or Hearing Impairment, direct services can be provided to students, in addition to consultation services to both teachers and parents.

How We Do It

Teacher Consultants build rapport and relationships with the school district staff whom they serve. They listen to the unique department, system, cultural, and classroom level needs of each school building. They are flexible to meet teachers where they are and coach them to improve outcomes for students with disabilities. Teacher Consultants provide ideas and resources to support teachers every day work in the classroom. Teacher Consultants support district administrators to move forward systems to support both compliance and improved outcomes for students with disabilities.
